FreeCell deal numbers

CardHearth uses the same deal numbering as Windows FreeCell, so deal #N here is the exact game #N you know from the classic — including the famously hard ones and the one that can't be won. Play any of them on the same cards: to retry a deal, settle a "was that even winnable?" argument, or race a friend.

Are FreeCell deals winnable?

Almost always. Because every card is dealt face up, FreeCell is a fully open puzzle, and the overwhelming majority of deals can be won with careful play. Easy deals to start with

  • Deal #1 — The very first numbered deal — the classic place to start, and comfortably winnable.
  • Deal #2 — The second standard deal: a gentle, winnable opener.
  • Deal #3 — An easy early deal, good for warming up.
  • Deal #5 — A frequently looked-up low number — solvable with steady play.
  • Deal #10 — Round, low and winnable: a good practice deal.

The hardest solvable deals

  • Deal #617 — Solvable, but long documented as one of the hardest of the standard deals — a real test of planning.
  • Deal #1,941 — Another deal famous for its difficulty: winnable, but only with very careful, deliberate play.
  • Deal #8,591 — One of the deals solvers single out as especially tough — beatable, barely.
  • Deal #13,007 — A notoriously difficult deal that defeats most casual attempts.
  • Deal #31,465 — Among the hardest in the upper range of the standard set.
  • Deal #31,938 — A late, brutally hard deal — a trophy for serious players.

The unsolvable one

  • Deal #11,982 — The famous exception: of the original 32,000 deals, #11982 is the one proven to have no solution in standard four-cell FreeCell.
