How to play Scorpion Solitaire

Scorpion crosses Spider with Yukon. You have seven columns and you build themdown in suit — a 9♠ only goes on a 10♠. Like Yukon, you may pick upany face-up card together with every card on top of it, tangled order and all; only the card you set down has to match. Untangle those piles into completeKing-to-Ace runs of one suit, and each finished run is swept off to a foundation. Clear all four suits to win.

The columns start with some cards face-down; expose and flip them by moving the cards above. When you've exhausted your moves, tap the stock — its three cards deal one onto each of the first three columns. There's no recycle, so those are your only reserves.

Strategy: work toward same-suit joins, because only same-suit runs complete. Prioritise moves that flip a face-down card, and try to keep one column workable. Hold the stock deal until you genuinely can't progress — it can bury as much as it frees.Hint (H) suggests a move and Undo (U) is unlimited.

Frequently asked questions

How do you play Scorpion Solitaire?

Build the seven columns down in the same suit (a 9♠ goes on a 10♠). You can move any face-up card together with everything on top of it, in any order — only the card you place has to match. Assemble each suit into a full King-to-Ace run and it is swept away. Clear all four suits to win.

What is the stock for?

After you have made all the moves you can, the three-card stock deals one card face-up onto each of the first three columns. There is no recycling, so spend those three cards wisely.

Is Scorpion harder than Spider?

It is a different kind of hard. Scorpion lets you move tangled groups freely, but everything must ultimately resolve into same-suit runs, and the buried face-down cards make planning essential. Unlimited undo helps you experiment.
