How to play Gin Rummy
Gin Rummy is the classic two-player card game, here against the computer. Each turn youdraw a card — from the face-down stock or the top of the discard pile — and then discard one. Your aim is to arrange your ten cards intomelds: sets (three or four of a kind) and runs (three or more in sequence of one suit). Your hand is sorted so your melds group together automatically.
Leftover cards are deadwood. When your deadwood totals 10 or less, theKnock button lights up — knock to end the hand and score the difference between your deadwood and your opponent's. Meld all ten for gin and a 25-point bonus. First to 100 wins.

How do you play Gin Rummy?
Gin Rummy is a two-player game. Each turn you draw one card (from the stock or the discard pile) and discard one. You want to arrange your 10 cards into melds — sets of the same rank or runs of the same suit. When your unmatched "deadwood" cards total 10 points or less, you can knock to end the hand and score.
What is gin and what is an undercut?
Gin is melding all 10 cards (zero deadwood) — it earns a 25-point bonus and your opponent cannot lay off. On a normal knock, your opponent first lays off deadwood onto your melds; if their remaining deadwood is equal to or lower than yours, they undercut you and score the difference plus 25.
How does scoring work?
On a knock you score the difference between the two players’ deadwood. Gin adds 25, an undercut hands 25 to your opponent. First player to 100 points wins the game.
